What is a MOBi?
A MOBi is your mobile identity! Once you buy your chosen name or business name you can then send and receive text messages from your PC, you can also set up automatic responses.
What is Automatic Response?
Think of automatic response like an SMS answering machine, your customers/colleagues or friends text your MOBi to 83211 and will be sent back the reply that you set up. You can either have these replies charged at 8p to your wallet or reversed billed at 25p to the recipient.
What are Keywords?
The MOBi that you choose is your keyword e.g. Sparklers, then if anyone texts Sparklers to 83211 they will be sent back the reply that you set up. You can try it out by texting mobi to 83211
What are Subwords?
Once you have bought a MOBi you can then set up subwords, these are words that follow your keyword in a text message e.g. texting Sparklers rates to 83211 can have a completely different response from texting just Sparklers.
Why would my business want a MOBi?
MOBi can be easily intergrated into your business to enable you to offer simple SMS services like:
1. Your SMS business card - Simply tell you customer and associates to text your MOBi
to 83211 and they will receive the contact details you set up.
2. Advertising your business - Put your MOBi on your signs, vans or advertising,
your customers would text your MOBi to 83211 and the reply would give details about your company
e.g. Prices, services and contact details, they could then call you or you could even call them.
3. If you regularly travel abroad - Because you can update your MOBi from anywhere
in the world, many of our customers who travel abroad and don't want calls all day use MOBi to
tell customers and colleagues to text their MOBi to find out convenient times to call.
4. It's a discreet form of contact - If you run a business of service where you
would rather call your customers that have them call you, get a MOBi and advertise it.
5. Running your own subscription service - If you run a club or society you can
offer people the chance to receive regular messages from you keeping them up to date with current
news or for upcoming events, the messages can be paid for by you in advance or charged to each
subscriber(this is only available on an advanced MOBi)

Why would I want a MOBi?

seeing your phone number unless you want them to.

from your PC, if your friends start their messages with your MOBi and send them to 83211
(they pay their normal rate) you can pick them up on your PC and text them straight back
(costing you 8p and your friend nothing)

What is safe TXT?
You're on a night out and you're getting wanted or unwanted attention. Inevitably the person hassling you will ask for your phone number. They might be gorgeous so you may not hesitate or you may give away your number just to get rid of them. In both cases you could be making yourself a prime target for weirdoes, stalkers and nuisance phone calls and texts. A home office study published in June suggests that over 1.2 million women and 900,000 men were the subjected to stalking in the last 12 months. Don't make it easy for them. By giving out your MOBi rather that your mobile number you are practising safe TXT. Someone starts a text message with your MOBi and then sends it to 83211 you can then pick up that message on your PC and continue to text them without them ever having to know your phone number. The texts will come from your name instead of your number. For example if you had the MOBi rose they would send rose nice to see you last night, i would like to meet up again soon. David to 83211. This message would then be in your MOBi inbox and you will be able to reply, remember to tell them to start all texts with your MOBi.
How do I send and receive texts from my PC?
To send messages from your PC is easy, once you have bought your MOBi you can send messages to anyone (for 8p) using the SMS sender this can be made even easier if you put your contacts into your MOBi phonebook. From the SMS sender you can decide whether to send a message using your mobile number or from the name of your choice.
It is also easy to receive messages to your PC from a mobile, people simply start the text message with your MOBi and then write what ever they like and send it to 83211. This message will go straight to your MOBi inbox.
Can I use MOBi abroad?
Yes you can, many of our MOBi users are travellers that send their friends and family text messages from all over the world. With the ability for your friends to reply back to your MOBi it makes a nice easier alternative to emailing.
What is the SMS wallet?
If you buy SMS's at "Top up Wallet" for 8p each you can then send texts from your PC via your MOBi and you can also choose to pay for the automatic replies sent when someone texts your MOBi.
How does subscription work?
The subscription service enables you to send out regular messages either charged to your wallet
or reverse billed to the recipient, this can be used for many different purposes - If you buy the
MOBi joke and advertise to people to send start joke you can then send them regular
messages with a new joke each time. To set this up you must first buy an advanced MOBi with any word
you like, you then go to your control panel (after logging in) and select "manage subscriptions",
then follow the on screen prompts to set up the first return message that your subscribers will
receive when they first text your subscription. You must also decide your pricing method here for
a non profit subscription you could choose to send the message at your own expense or if you intend
to profit from the subscription you should choose the 25p reverse billed option. From now on anyone
that texts your subscription MOBi has agreed to receive messages from you at the agreed cost and
frequency. If a subscriber wants to leave your subscription list all they have to do is send stop
followed by your MOBi keyword e.g. stop joke. You can also run a subscription on a subword,
this works in the same way as with a keyword e.g. you could set up the subword doctor then a
subscriber would send start joke doctor and then you could send them a range of Doctor jokes.
All subscription terms and conditions must be clearly advertised to the consumer, and must contain
start and stop details along with the costs of the messages and the frequency that you will send them
out. Failure to do this will result in your MOBi account being canceled without refund and could lead
to legal prosecution.
Why is my name not available?
Unfortunately due to the nature of MOBi the same name cannot be used by more than one person. This means that you need to be more creative, so why not try searching for your nickname, your initials, perhaps combine your first name and last name together or maybe even just a funny word.
